Since 1736, the mineral-enriched waters of the Saint Odile spring in Avène in southwestern France have been noted for their therapeutic and soothing qualities. A hydrotherapy center was soon built at the site to treat people suffering from a variety of skin disorders including atopic dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis and burns and later the facility received official recognition by the French Government that led to it being approved for reimbursement by the French Social Security System. After the site was acquired by Pierre Fabre Laboratories, (the second largest private Pharmaceutical company in France) they introduced a line of skincare products using Avène Spring water with its soothing and healing properties. Avène products are ideal for all types of sensitive skin.
